Now is the time to take your time. We want to go slow and be thorough so you have at least one good circuit finished. If it's easier for you, drop and hang the headlight switch to do that test. If you do that leave all wires attached to it and attach a jumper ground wire from headlight switch mounting threads or bracket to good clean metal. It may need to be grounded.
Tape up the wire that goes from headlight switch to the dimmer so it does not short out.
