Kevinski - old filter is 5" tall and 4.25" in diameter.

Saw a guy on youtube use a vise to pinch the stainless to flare it, going to try that.

Also got around to welding the deep groove up:

For the shaft:
1 - do I need to disassemble it any further?
2 - how much of it can I paint? Can I do the ball joint on the end? Or just leave it oiled?
