Without an engine in front of me, I'm struggling to imagine a fan/ balancer interference due to a larger diameter balancer and the short shaft pump (modified 55-62 235 pump). In this case I am referring to the 216 fan on said modified pump. (As my setup has)

The pump pulley is such that the groove is nearest the pump. The face of the fan hub on the pulley sits well forward of that (2 inches?). Not at all in the same plane as the balancer.
