To boil things into simplest form:

OP bought a short shaft pump and a 235 fan. Looks like he just needs the 216 fan and things might work.

(There are some potential secondary issues with generator pulley and such, but that's all academic until you get a fan that doesn't hit stuff)

As long as the fan center/post hole is the correct diameter?

The 216 and early 235 engines are not "splash oilers" -- this is a splash oiler.
