I have said it before, but it needs repeating.
The phrase "short shaft pump" is a very bad way to describe these water pumps.
A much better way is to say Modified 1955-62 pump, where "short shaft" got the name.
Or "high mount pump" (used up until 1955 1st). This pump is all to often called a short shaft pump.
This would save a lot of confusion.
