Ok- - - -there's another option. There is a set of thick wall main bearings available that will allow a small journal crankshaft to fit a large journal block- - - -even one with 4 bolt main bearings. They're similar to the bearings used to run a 350 crank in a 400 block. I don't remember the part number off the top of my head, but a quick call to my parts guy in Nashville tomorrow will refresh my memory. If you want a really unique 327, how about building one with a 4 bolt main 350 block? Those blocks are still pretty available at reasonable prices. I've got 3 or 4 of them stashed away right now. I'm thinking of building a faux Z-28 302 with that setup- - - -a 4 bolt 350 with a 283 crankshaft in it.
