well...remember when i said all we have here is AD trucks...somehow a 60 apache 30 jumped on trailer and wouldnt come loose until i got back home. I was supposed to go to Omaha and haul it down to KC. It was suppose to be my wifes and my's anniversry trip, (nine yrs, gotta go out on a trip, to work up to the big "10" one). A couple days before we left, I bought the truck, so instead of delievr'ing it, I hauled it around NE and most of IA, for the weekend. It all went pretty well until we tried to do simple things like, stay at the motel, get some food, and go to the antique stores I had promised her. Got a lot of funny looks, but what the hay, every man should always take a back up truck along on a trip. Since I still had a little room left, I bought her a nice oak desk, for her computer, and hauled it home too. I was just about dragging the ground by the time we got back. So there you have it, postive proof you can be the man and still collect iron at the same time.

I mostly hid from the heat. I don't think it ever broke 100 here, but around here people start melting in the high 80's.

I did spend some time getting the yard cleared for the new shop. Today a couple more trees came down and the sod was scraped to prepare for leveling tomorrow.

Still working on the new building in the backyard. Finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Another week of more soffit and misc. trim and it should be pretty well buttoned up on the outside. I still have a long way to go before final completion, but at least the stress level has dropped a few notches, now that it is weathertight and most of the wood is covered.
Worked on it Friday evening, Saturday until about 1:00 PM then helped my nephew move. Picked up more material at Menards and worked most of Sunday, along with all night tonite.

It is finally getting to the point where I can start to relax a little again. Now my mind is starting to think more about the old trucks.

I spent most of the last few days putting up hay. My '59 is starving for attention but hopefully I'll get some time this winter to finish it up.

I am going to have to do some investigation today to see what the problem is.

I drove my 54 Plymouth Savoy and the radiator
started leaking BAD this weekend.... If its not one thing its another.

The good news is that Robin has taken the Youth Group to Church camp and I have her car, so I can work this week on the 59's brakes and remove the Plymouths radiator and truck it to Ft. Worth.

Well??? with the temp on Sat at 107..and on sun at 110 and Mon at 105???? I looked at the '49 and other projects...as we loaded the car and went to the lake..... and spent the hottest parts of the days as lake floaties.......

Well, it's so hot in JULY, what's going to happen in August.

Well, I finally got the bed repainted and the grill done and both are back on the truck. The bed floor still has to be done as well as the tailgate. Both the front and rear bumpers have to be painted and the hood needs to be adjusted but, I am making good progress. At least it looks like a truck again and I am proud of how it is coming together.

spent most of the time putting up an attic stairs so I can store some parts "in the rafters". I did get some beadblasting on small parts, primed and painted. Ready for the attic!! It will be "sometime" before I will need to get them down again. The more I tear apart the more work I see......isn't that always the way it is?

I painted my whole grill black, but have had other mechanical projects (and really hot weather) keeping me out of my 72.

I'm hoping to get some quality garage time tomorrow or tuesday

Got a chance to drive the GMC around the neighborhood for awhile yesterday to see if everything works okay. ran out of gas about 2 blocks from home. Had a friend help me tow it home and get it parked.
With its burned valves it wasn't running great,but all the basics seem to function well. Discovered using an old weathered clutch wasn't my greatest idea,so once I get the cylinder head finished,installed and paid for,a new clutch and a rear window gasket are next on the list of "gotta haves". Bought a used big back window from a fellow in Pa. for $50.00 last week;it should be here Tuesday.

Well I stopped and checked out a 1 1/2 ton yesterday for parts, was hoping the cab was good, it was better than mine but not enough to want to swap it on. So the search goes on, still have to get the tranny unstuck, it rained all last week and the truck is out side so didn't get much done.LOL

On Saturday I finally got my cab set on the frame,(70 onto a 75 4x4 frame) probably today I'll get at putting in the steering column.

got the cab back on the frame and hung the doors. Needs a little more tweaking to get them set right. Painted frame for radiator. Installed new shocks. Hope to get the new fuel lines on today. 1950 3600

So, yesterday I put on new front shocks on my '65 c10. That was very aggravating with lots of weird positions to make it happen, but it was pretty straight forward.

Today, I did the rear shocks and that was a bear, 3 out of four bolts were so rusted, they broke off. So, I had to make a run to get some good bolts for the shocks. Then, of course there was some 'adjusting' that needed to be done to the brackets so the new shocks could fit in... yeesh, all of that was 3 times harder than it had to be, but I got it done.

So, what did ya'll do to or with your trucks this weekend?

Managed to find that my stater won't turn over my engine.

Did nothing except spend time with the kids who were home for the long weekend.

i fabricated a set of inside door handles for my 57.
i will send the editor of this site an article i wrote and have pics of how i made them.
also went for my first real cruize today, about 15 miles.
cant wait til i get my dropped front axle..then the fun begins..

Picked up a chrome trim piece for the radio speaker grill, chrome knob for the ashtray, "correct" bolts for the radio delete plate, and wandered around in the junkyard trying to find 15" wheels that would fit both my GM 10 bolt rear axle AND my original hubcap. Pretty tough to do.
ALSO helped my Dad start taking pieces (like a beehive oil filter) off of a 1956 pickup that he bought for $50.

I'm parting out a '48 Chevy panel, and spent some time taking parts off it. Its starting to look gone...

Also spent some time advising on my son's '76 Cadillac project. He is resurrecting one that has not run in several years, and I'm giving advice on that project and spending time watching him work.

I observed through the hole in the box that my heater core was leaking. I removed the old heater hoses a while back and I learned to patiently and gently cut them from the heater core pipes and not give a twisting or pulling motion to the hoses. I removed the heater core and saw that it is leaking from a couple of places. I will take it to a radiator shop this coming week.

Drove 500 miles to St Louis to pick up a new boat, then towed it back. No wrenching, just driving.

got my tail gate on the truck, did some touch-up work on the running boards. got the door rubber I've been needing, plan to install that next week end.

I took the '56 to a car show on Saturday. Joker and TxLaTx were there. Had a great time.

Today brought another '56 wide window home. It's in pieces sitting on an Olds frame. Someone needs their butt kicked.

Got out a spotweld drill and my welder and got ANAL with some sludge, and pulled all the front end sheetmetal and radiator in prep to pull the engine on OL' RED

I had to work 1/2 day Saturday morning, so I didn't get to much done. Spent 3 hours Saturday afternoon getting the right step & rocker drilled out & cut off the 57. It didn't come out as easy as the drivers side did.

After much nervous anticipation, finally got my valves adjusted. Went through them twice to make sure I didn't screw it up. Why this is so difficult, I don't know.

no wrenching but I did open the box of stuff from Carters 15% sale and drooled over the parts ....that I won't need for at least a year!! Tomorrow I will check out the NEW radiator from them. Its still boxed up. I had to wait for Easter Bunny to bring it and haven't opened it yet

For once I did accomplish a couple of chores. I bought a battery and had some cables custom made and hooked them up.

I also finished rebuilding my rear cab mounts and bolted them up. When you look at them it seems it wouldn't matter how you bolted them on as each end looks alike. After installing I noticed the nuts on each side were facing different directions. Now I don't know if this matters a whit but I think tomorrow I'll swap them around. I have a picture of them labled as to which side they go. Better safe than sorry.

Got my bed home, Still lookin at it settin on the trailor,wil get it mounted this weekend coming, turned into a family weekend with Easter and all.
The truck will be there next weekend.

R&R the starter on my son's '91 Blazer. That wasn't quite as straight forward as I expected. Also changed oil and filter while I was at it. He'd never get around to it. While it wasn't working on on a Stovebolt.. it was still a Chevy. Rest of the time was spent working on my daughter's house reno.

went to a farm auction, worked on my allis chalmers D-17, sanded a little on the 63 k10. clean the bottom drive at our house ( i had a few to many 63 parts stacked here or there )
