While replacing the kitchen counter top in our 1976 Chevy C30 Coachmen motorhome I found $800 in American Express travelers checks that had fallen down inside the cabinet, had the original owners (long deceased) signatures on the the first line, just needed second signature. We called A/E and found that they were still good. So we tracked down the PO kids and found that their son was their executor so he was able to sign the checks. Of course they didn't offer any reward and didn't even say thank you. Oh well.....

I found a jack and jack handle that looked like it had never been used, the original owner's manual and a note to sign up with The Stove bolt Page. When we got back to Dallas from St. Louis we discovered a 4 inch wasp nest attached between the cab and box full of wasps. I don't know how they survived the trip but they are now in that big wasp nest in the sky.

when i got my 64 from my grandpa it had sat 4 20 years under a shed an it had a living room set in the back with a piano a kids play kichen moonshine bottels grandaddy says he dont no were they came from coke bottels hub caps scarp metal wood tracter parts in the cab i found all kinda mud fly sh$t duct tape old metal lip stick can ice scarper's all kinda parts 2 the truck an ever thing else he owned tobaco seeds lets just say it had ever thing u need an a hole lot more but not a lot of rust

When I got my 57 the glove box was almost 1/2 full of chewed up insulation & seat cushion,hay & lots of mouse poop. Under the seat was more mouse crap & nests. Inside the seat frame was an entire nation of old mouse nests & more poop.The cab floor had about 1/4 inch of mud caked on and did I mention more mouse poop.I found 2 cans of beer benind the seat that had the old pull tab top. Anyone for 30 year old aged beer covered with mouse poop? In the bed was a couple of old worn out break shoes, but no mouse poop there.

I found a ton of hornet nests. They were everywhere underneath the truck. Nothing special inside.

true story....a pair of white mens underwear, $6.43 in change, 3 tubes of preparation H and a bunch of old license plates

I guess I was blessed, no mouse or rat remnants.
1 doorhandle, 1 receipt for muffler,toenail clippers(rusty),and about 6 cents.

The Pennys keep the wing windows quiet when wedged in.

In my '49 3600. It had sat in the farmer's field for a while and there was a HUGE wasp nest in the grill. It took two large cans of wasp spray before they all stopped coming out. When I got the grill off, the nest was about 9 inches by 12 inces behind the grill. Fortunately, nobody got stung. Things have gone smoother since then.

back in the late 80,s i found and bought a 48 11/2 flat bed. it was sitting in a shed for about 10 years since the owner had died. pulled it home and while getting it started we found a old S&W 38 pistol wrapped in a oily rag under the dash, behind the speaker grille. the radio delete plate was gone, so that must be how he gat to it. the ole truck had been used to haul roofing material to and from the job site. strange thing was it had a wayne valve cover on it. also found a bottle of Wild Turkey in the glove box. still have the pistol and cover, but the Turkey flew away quite some time ago.

In my 48 two ton, I found a rust hole filled with clear silicon in corner just below the passenger door post.

I'm still new here and mainly just read but I'll chime in.

1. Moss. Inside the rusted out lower grille bar
2. Mouse turds, nests, etc.
3. The crank for the motor? NEAT!
4. 16 Yellow Jacket's nests. (them are mean bees when you **** them off)
5. The rear window & old molding behind the seat
6. 2 loadmaster emblems. It's a thriftmaster missing one emblem.
7. Exhaust held on by bailin wire
8. Any broken part ON the truck was found IN it. Wiper blades, etc.
9. Original registration
10. I'm sure there'll be more. I'm not done lookin.

I'll have to tell you what I find in the IRWIPI truck when I get to Texas.

In the cab of the 53:
- about 4 inches of woodchuck crap
- jack
- more crap

The bed:
- Winter tires for the truck and a 49 chevy deluxe
- Cans of DeVoe paint from the old hardware store
- Crazy bottles that I plan on cleaning up
- TONS of broken glass
- More woodchuck crap
- A kitchen sink (really)

In my '57 from Georgia, the weirdest things were in the bed (aren't they always) and behind the tank. In the glovebox was some paperwork from the dealer with key number, date of delivery, and some other info, an owners manual, some rusty handtools, radio knobs, maybe some fuses, and few nuts, bolts & screws. Found some proof of insurances too. In the bed was a wooden yardstick that says "A SAFE RULE DON'T DRINK MOONSHINE" "Report Moonshine Violations to State Revenue Agents-Atlanta JA. 2-8680 ext 324". Saved the yardstick. Behind the tank and around there, were cigarette butts, and empty pack, a note or two, and a child's toy. Someone had also tried to isolate the cab & tank by shoving a wad of paper between the two. The toy is a plastic Cowboy riding his horse. It reminded me of the toys that just disappeared on me when I was a kid, so I have saved it. The PO said her father-in law had bought the truck brand new, so the toy could be her husband's. Should I call them and see if he remembers it?

I found an old cane pole with hook and bobber still attached. A new set of points and condinser. A gas can and minnow trap. and a few of the old style pull tabs from a soda or beer can and a birds nest in the headliner.

in my 1964 chevy k 10 i found all the original owners manuls and paper work on the dana/spicer axles and lock outs, along with a bunch of parts to a hay baler, and 5 or 6 old budweiser bottles

So, what was in the IRWIPI truck, Builder?

In the '36 1.5 ton glove box a reciept for one veal to a local store dated '46, behind the seat 3 red road flags, a old coke bottle, In the pass. door 13 mouse skeletons, which my son and I took the skulls and mounted them on a board still hanging on the wall. Also in the pass. door was the entire stuffing from the passenger seat. And of course tons of mouse poop.

I didn't find anything at all inside the cab of my truck. That might be attributed to the fact that I don't have ANY cab corners at all, and my floor is pretty much non-existent. I found a couple of pulleys off of a Ford inside a crate in the bed. I think that they were used as wheel chucks.

I bought a 49 Chev. car onetime. It had some invoices for repair work in the glove box from a chev. dealer. A valve job was $20.
$1.50 for a valve. $3.50 for the gasket set & the rest was labor. Muffler & tail pipe replacement was $12. I thought I saved them but can,t find them.

I didn't find much "in" the truck, but I did find the original owners name under several layers of paint on the bedside. I looked him up and chatted with him and his wife for quite a while about my truck. That was in the late 90's - over 40 years since he bought it new! (I've had it since 1976) It was a wonderful conversation!

In my '49 1/2 ton...

1) an old Superman comic book
2) shell casings from a 22
3) rusted pipe wrench
4) very old house key. I polished the key and gave it to my 17 year old daughter. Told her it was the key to my heart. She put a chain on it and regularly wears it around her neck.

In my '52 GMC, there was a copy of a police report from Laramie, Wyoming from the previous owner mowing down a herd of about half a dozen antelope. What was funny about it was how the cop described the "gory" scene as if it were a bunch of people. He referred to the antelope as the "deceased".

my 1965 c-10 came with a ton of junk in the bed two good running chain saws. about a case of oil. two golf clubs and a half a tank of gas!!

In my '36 glove box I found the registration from 1958, the ignition keys and window crank handles. Under what was left of the seat I found the crank, some ancient tools and a half bottle of Johnny Walker. That might explain some of the body damage

a military medics field bag that was had a 100 ct box of condoms i contacted the po and she said she would be by in a few to pick them up a field bag with clothes and a whole lot of parts in the bed and also found a pop bottle in the drivers door with a bolt in it

Mainly a bunch of garbage that needed to be hauled to the dump and a LOT of various animal droppings, nests and dried urine. It was pretty nasty to say the least. The best thing I found was a Smokey Bear dash magnet snuffer with a plastic flower in it. It will be on the dash when all is completed. There was also a blackened wheat 1946 penny dried up and stuck in the bottom of the ash tray.

MICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a stoveblot but I found a 2 ft heave duty screwdriver iside the door of a f**d. po never had the door apart so i fugured it was factory.....

A few yrs ago I bought an old big bolt from an equipment dealer. The driver was a chewer of the brown stuff. When the drivers window was down the driver tried to spit out the open window. Well.... it all ended behind him on the back wall between the back window and the drivers door. Not just once and a while but it was the norm. I took the truck to the quater car wash and it was almost more than a good man could tolerate. The soapy water was brown with &%*^#$@$& and more.
Turned out to be a good runner once I had the mess cleaned up.

in the back of my '54 3100 was a metal trunk from the 50's with the PO's kid's name on it (it said "nothing of value-impoverished student" painted on the top) and in the trunk was the original jack, hubcaps from a '54 GMC, an extra fuel pump, random rusty tools that I cleaned up & still use, but best of all a thick envelope with EVERY receipt from this truck dating back to 1963! I've gone through it and it's a little time capsule of maintenence and repair for forty plus years. The coolest part is it was painted three times at the same shop in Oakland, the first time the paint job was $35, the second time ten years later it was $125, and the same job at the same shop twenty years later was $600! good stuff.

In the glove box, I found a receipt showing the previous owner paid $3500.00 more for it than I bought it from him and declaring 35,000 original mmiles. Behind the seat I found the original engine hand crank and jack and handle. What was unexpected was in the engine I bought to eventually replace the 216 was a dried mouse and what was left of his home...

In my 48 GMC 1/2 ton I found three air fliter housings off of v8 engines, door handles for a 70's chevy van(inside and out),fuses,missing headlight trim ring,taillight housings for the same chevy van,a few old wooden handle screw drivers,of course mouse poop, a good size birds nest in the upper corner behind the driver side and about a garbage can full of just trash!.
It looked a lot better once cleaned out.

Finally got the glove compartment open on the 4400. Some minor mouse droppings and a faded fortune from a fortune cookie. My wife is a fanatic about reading these things so we pored over it for a while. As far as we can tell it said "You only think that your parents were married to each other."

I don't think I will ever read another one of those. Kind of made me want to go out and jump off the back porch.

I found three wasp or hornet nests. One was tucked up underneath the driver's front fender, one was beneath the windshield vent, and another was attached to the frame. Thankfully I bought it in November and found them the next spring after a COLD winter. A LOT of red caked mud underneath. (The truck was from OK). And some old speakers that weren't connected to anything. I felt like an archeologist on a dig. Would that be a CARcheologist?

Old coins, registerations, some hand tools and a millon dollars. Gave the million dollars back but I wasn't gettin off those old coins...no way, I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid! he , he, he.
