I had the motor at TDC, set the timing, pumped up the fuel, squirted a little ether, hit the pedal and IT STARTED!!! Boy, is it loud, though.  Pictures soon. In the Gallery.John

Speaking about scraping the smile off, you'll notice I dropped the big grin as soon as I remembered I didn't have my plate in... Fun afternoon! Spent the morning checking out a friend's Dodge Power Wagon frame-off resto (he's at the same point I am). He's also got an M-37 that he's going to be putting a Cummins 4BT in. I've got to get some of my projects done so I can get back to mine. I did make an interesting discovery today though. I delivered a load of firewood to my regular customer and happened to notice the rearend of a Mopar sticking out of a polebarn. I asked what was up with the old Dodge and if I could take a look at it. It turned out to be a 33,000 mile, 1962 Chrysler 300 2dr. black with biege leather interior. It has the dual quad 413 and full power interior. I didn't see the "H" anywhere which suprised me. I told her to get a hold of whoever (her Dad) and see what it would take to buy it. I hate to see such cars rotting away from neglect. We'll see what happens,

I put the old pipe and muffler back on and it got more habitable in there for subsequent runs. I think I need a new oil pressure gauge, though... The original one only reads to 30 psi and it appears it's making all of that and more (it's a '58 235). Now how do I get the temp gauge working? What do I need to put in the head, some kind of sending unit? Thanks Alvin! It's okay, you can still call me John. I might get uppity once I have a cab back on it, though... Cletis, ouch, that hurts! I may try driving it today If so, it will be the first time the truck has moved under it's own power since May '99. John

John thought maybe I was too close. If I stood outside the garage, it may have recorded better. It's such a cheap camera, I was surprised any of the recording part worked at all. Dakota you asked about the first ride? Well, here's the prep for it. John drove it this far and it pooped out . (Just needed to re-charge the battery.) He added a seat And then added a gas pedal. He drove it down the lane and back. Then down the end of the cul-de-sac (I think he said he got it up to fourth gear). When he drove by the house, he waved, so I ran back in and gathered up all the cameras. So, these shots are of him coming up the lane. He\'s tryiing to figure out what I am doing! And this video of John coming up the drive is what he was squinting at! I think this sound turned out much better than the other. Sorry about all the camera jiggling. I was waving John to keep moving towards me! John will have to add the details. He was stoked to say the least. It sure makes it easier to get in and out of the garage, I'll say that!! After that we went back to farm work. So, it was an excellent day. Oh, and John Boy -- we thought that was pretty funny, too -- living in a place called "Mechanicsville." Perfect location for Stovebolt HQ! Peggy

Peg John and Peggy in no way are the two of you crazy. The tree farm is beautiful, and if John puts half as much in to his public service as the two of you put in to the Bolt page the people around you are very lucky. You are defiantly fulfilling your propose in life.
