For what it's worth, I'd say it's worth whatever you are willing to pay for it. 2k for a vehicle that has sat so long? Maybe yes, maybe no. I've never looked into my 39 as much of an investment because I'd have to sell it first.
As far as style, I love the 39/40. The mostly modern vehicles with the old bullfrog headlamps are a great combination. The parts are pretty available.
Of course I would make as good a deal as you can per the other comments posted.
