I'm in about the same position as rusty rod. I payed about 2500 for my 40 gmc. More to have the 302 6 cylinder rebuilt... more for the 5 2bbls... more for the 5 speed transmission, new rear end, disc brake conversion for the front...
I've collected quite a few parts for an entire rodstoration which will include a total driveline swap/ rebuild down to the springs and shackles.
It ain't cheap, but if that's the hunk of junk you want... go for it!
