If you don't drive it in the winter, don't just go out and start it up once in a while and shut it off. You'd be better off draining the fuel and letting the engine sit idle for 4 months.
If you do start it, let it idle for30 or 40 minutes at least to get the blow by gasses and condensation out of it.
