Progress made today. Got everything but the spider gear back into the pumpkin. Ring gear was still locked so on to transmission. Pulled the top off and Neither fork was where it should be. Cleaned up the gasket flange then dry bolted the lid back down. Put in neutral and voila the ring gear turns easy as pie.

The tranny was really sludged up. Cleaned the fork slides and lubed them. I would have to guess the fluid hasn’t been changed it a while
