Deve, isn't one option if you're going to have a machine shop, check cylinders for taper and possibly bore the cylinders (and tell us what size pistons are needed), grind the crank, mill the heads and block...that they will just cook it and boil the block and head for you to clean all the crud out? Know (and fully appreciate) you're trying to do as much of it ourselves as possible to keep the cost down, but some of those things are going to be beyond the capacity of most folks. Not sure how you were going to integrate machine shop work in the rebuild?
