Are you going to re-ring it without reboring? If there's less than .005" taper wear in the cylinders, that's OK, but expect a very short-life rebuild if there's more. Use a button-type cylinder glaze breaker, followed by a thorough scrubbing with Tide and hot water to clean up the honing residue. I wore out a set of rings on one-cross-country trip from California to Tennessee, with what I thought were well-cleaned cylinders!
