Do the 20 minute cam break-in. Let cool, change oil and retorque head gaskets. Check for leaks. Examine oil for metal shavings. Cut filter open and look for metal. If its coming apart, metal will show up now.
Tune engine then road test. Accellerate and coast during test runs. No full-throttle starts or long steady-speed cruising. Find a straight streach of road, no traffic. Put truck in low or 1st, accellerate to 3000 RPM, drop foot off gas and let engine slow the truck way down. Repeat 5 or 10 times to seat rings. Drive 500 miles as normal, no abuse. Change oil, check for metal. Enjoy engine, resume normal maint schedule.
