Forgot to add that in goes with my gear shift knob which is a vintage glass door knob. I had to grind a little of the shifter, then ran a die down it to match the treads the door knob excepts, the door knob has a set screw to keep it tight. I can also change the knob if I want. I have white and chocolate brown porcelain knobs, other glass knobs and some brass knobs and the iron knob that I made a cast from for the starter button.

Guess what...Wasat is a girl!!!!

Debra, you make us Southern Stovebolters proud.... and for you guys who have not met Debra your missing out on meeting a talented lady. So much so I think her hubby must have had to build her a shop just for herself so he could reclaim his!! Way to go Debra.

...not to mention her skills with motorcyles restoration and photography!!

My wiring kit came with a high-beam switch but my original seemed to be in good condition and also looked to be much sturdier, so I put it back in.

Still fighting the battle with the brakes. Went to bleed the system and the bleeder sheared off, so I decided it was time for new front calipers. The problem is we don’t have a clue what they came out of. I discovered they looked identical to those on my ’79 donor truck (for the ’53 project). But when I went to bolt on the hose, no go, the bolts are different sizes. So now I’m replacing the hoses as well and since I’m replacing them I’ll replace the steel lines from the proportioning valve to the hoses as well. This way everything is brand new except the rotors which still look like new – they have new inner and outer bearings with less than a few hundred miles on them.

John, I knew a guy that noticed his radiator cap was loosing pressure and bought a new one only to find the radiator rusted at the top. He buys a new radiator and sees the hoses need replacing, he replaces the hoses and when installing the new radiator discovers the radiator support was rusted out. He gets a used support and discovers as he is removing the old support the insulation on the old wires running to his headlights and park lights were in very bad shape. This meant a new wiring system. It was not a pretty sight, a grown man crying... grin

Painted my 261 oil pan, valve cover and pushrod cover plate with "Detroit Deisel-Alpine Green". Need to wire brush the block and head for the same... maybe after I put in the valve guides and assemble the head.
Valve Guides are ordered... I drew up plans for a guide installation tool and had a buddy make it for me. I'm confident it will work well.
Oh. I also won a set of NOS main bearings off Ebay for 14 bucks! A set of connecting rod bearings and a gasket set to go, and I'll be ready for an engine assembly process!
Just bought a "JOBMASTER 261" Valve Cover Decal from Jim Carters.
$2.78 and no shipping charges!

I ordered my Spal 7.5" twin Spal fans today. When we get them installed along with the 165 degree thermostat we'll crank her and see if the temp stays around 180 degree and if the power steering is functioning. Then we will be hanging the grill, splash pan, hood support, and hood. Getting close...

We got the panel running today, first time in over 4 years. Didn't run her too long, need to tweak a few things, fan blade is a few mm from the balancer, electrical system got finished, everything works. Need to adjust the hood just a bit. We bypassed the heater for now, need to do that next week but I feel good about having it running!

Nice one Cletis well done ,What did I get done today changed the inside colour from the faded original Too cardinal red Insulated
the back of the cab, coated the floors with rubber underseal then baked it hard, put tank and seat back plugs back in filled it with fluids and started First press of the starter , Sat purring away on my Drive for 30 mins No fluid leaks, all gauges workng perfect. Have a question while I am typing Does anyone know On the Vintage Air Ac/Heat if You buy the inside package you can later add Ac to it after if you wish too ?

Last night I got the nova rear end bolted in the 38. A perfect fit! Now for spring bushings. think I'll try to find some urethane bushings instead of the old steel ones.

These old bolts are in my blood. Hard thing is focusing on just one.

Ryan:
My Crate engine came with the air compressor and I have added the condenser in front of the radiator.
I will be looking to do the same as you, a part at a time.

Just got in from a 20 mile, end-of-the-weekend cruise in the 9500. Just to drive it and listen to that 2-cycle Detroit sing to me a little. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I didn't get as much done as I hoped, spent 3 hours in Accident and Emergency getting my right hand stitched up.
I was cutting back a bracket on my chassis and got a kick back from the grinder.
A 1mm thick cutting disc,12000rpm and skin,not a good combination..... nono

I broke two of my new exhaust valve guides over the weekend trying to install them. I finally got the hang of hammering them in, and all the other guides were installed successfully. My arm was like soft rubber afterwards though!
3 more guides are now on the way from "Rock Auto" (one extra for just in case)!
I also snagged an ignition switch on Ebay for $13 and just now bought a set of connecting rod bearings on Ebay for $30.
My Ebay purchased main bearing set arrived over the weekend and the "Jobmaster" decal from "Carter's" should be arriving soon.
I still need a gasket set, starter bendix, throw-out bearing and some paint.
I'm getting closer to finishing that power plant and getting more excited.

Oh... I thought this was kinda funny and worth sharing.
The connecting Rod Bearing Set I just bought on Ebay was originally $34.95 or Make Offer with $14.95 shipping.
I offered $25. (around $40 total with the shipping).
The seller countered with $30... and $10 shipping.

headscratch

OK buddy, if you insist... shake

How's that National Health Service these days?

Actually it's not too bad BIG,I just keep payin' my National Insurance.
One downside is,i'm down to one typing finger at the moment instead of the usually impressive two!
This reply took about 5 mins to type!

Thankfully I'm left handed so i'm not totally out of commission. grin

I can emphasize with you buddy. Politically speaking, "I can feel your pain". I can't go a week without busting, or cutting, or breaking or burning some part of me.
I should live near a hospital.
