Is that fire engine red or resale red? grin

It looks great but will look even better with lettering.

But will it pump? A firetruck can look good, but it's true calling is to pump water, regardless of it's appearence. But that does awesome considering what it looked like.

NICE paint job John, if you decide to change your mind , I might have an extra stencil laying around to so you can spray some stars on those doors,. Oh and lets not forget a rattle can or 2 of OD for the background.

Thanks guys!

The color is "Arrest Me Red" grin Actually, it's Centari "Spectramaster Red" (RS904A) A nice deep red without being too dark.

John -- About the OD Green... A friend of mine here (fellow Marine) says he has a picture of an MCAS Yuma crash truck (Vietnam vintage) that he claims is identical to my truck. But Peggy is pretty adamant that we letter it for the farm (Friendship Forest VFD -- Fir and Spruce Rescue Tanker 1. I guess the Pines are on their own...).

Mike ... I'll deal with you later. I finally caught up with Bill and he is putting the pump back together as we speak. Now all I have to do is finish scraping and refinishing the inside of the tank. Which wouldn't be so bad if not for the baffles... what a pain in the back.

Well, gotta get some Stovebolt stuff done and then I can go play on the truck (too wet today to plant trees)

Thanks all for the nice comments. It's fun to have her back looking good and almost ready to go to Winchester for the big Fire engine parade!

grin
John

Getting there, Mike! Got it mostly done over the weekend and finished up in time to roll her outside in the late afternoon light for some portraits

Got most everything done yesterday. Did Stovebolt stuff all morning and then remounting the mirrors took all afternoon, believe it or not. Well... remounting the driver's side mirror took about 2 hours. The passenger side mirror took about 15 minutes. The problem was that none of the holes would line up correctly on the bottom cross piece and the holes were slightly boogered. My guess is that over time, and one too many doughnut-chugging firefighters in full turnout gear had hopped up on the running board to talk to the driver and had used the mirror as a handy grab bar ...

Took a little ride up to see Mike Roache and got home to find Gary, Sally and the '59 Reo (see the Saga about my firetruck ...) in my driveway smile Nice to see that thing driving again, as well as in it's new guise of a semi tractor.

Hope everyone else had a superb weekend -- mine was great!

John
