I'm posting this here for an opinon, more than a what brand, or how to do it thing. What color did you paint the inside of your truck cab. Did you stick with a more traditional one, or go with the outside color? I wanted to go with a lite gray, but our body shop guys recomended a color that remainds me of what a baby calf leaves behind. I relise the choice is mine. I just want to know what other guys are doing/not doing ,or would like to do. Any one have any good close up pictures of there insides?

Its your truck isn't it? I went semigloss black, not a standout type color.

The same color as the rest of the truck and a semi gloss black on the top of the dash will always fit. What color is the rest of the truck? Does the calf $h!t green compliment the color of the exterior and interior? And most of all do you like it? If you have any doubts, don't do it unless you can afford to have it redone.

My 56 interior is tan/brown. I wasn't interested in original colors, only what I liked. Outside color is yet to be determind but probably a dark green some years ahead!

Link to pics is below....

I used the stock '54 color in my '51, which is sort of beige. I think the original color was too dark and I didn't want the interior to match the exterior.

I like the light beige metallic paint that is just a shade or two brighter than the original. If I were you, with the money you got, I would just cover it in leather (LOL),

Well the shop wants to paint it, some beige calf poop color. The outside will be Viper red. My trouble with the color they think looks best, is the headliner, door panels, and some of the other things will black. I found a nice liter gray in my tractor paint supplier. It just a simple one step, that I want flatened. They wanted to paint the dash the same outside red. I think it should be the same as the inside color. The shop guys paint a lot of stuff with colors that work well together, I'm just not sure if there completely right on this one. The last thing i wanted is for it to look dorky. I've already had them paint the wheels, front bumper and running boards in this gray color. Does anyone think the gray would make the inside to dark? Most of the orginal paints were kind of on the dark side.

Oh, yes I completely hate anything to do with leather, so theres little chance it will be found inside this truck. If anything i would put in velvet, so I could then use a "dogs playing pool" floor mat.

go with gray....Calf poop beige is no good...

All I can picture is Scours Yellow...yuck.

I am looking at a light gray Ferd tractor paint for the inside. A quart of that stuff is pretty cheap and should cover the panels nicely.

Here are the colors I had mine painted:

http://www.59apache.com/bigwheel.html

The truck's interior is painted in the original interior colors for 1959 - Comanche Gold Metallic and Charcoal Gray.

I like how they turned out! cool

Light tan/beige hammer-tone finish. Good color, seems slightly metallic, and the hammered finish gives it some interesting texture and depth. I like it, and that's all that counts.

gray is neutral and goes w/ everything

I'm using some of that new
'hammertone' spray paint on the dash. It looks neat. When dry, it looks like thousands of little hammer-blows massaged the metal. Be careful not to spray on a lot at once. It tend to run if applied too thick.

I also found a spray can of the exact same dark flecked color the dash originally had.

46,
That excatly the paint I picked out for the wheels. It was suppose to be a close match for the color an early ferd tractor was, before all thered bellys and them there blue color. Not to dark not to lite, just down the middle. Its going to come a little flater as it a one step piant. I just couldnt see painting any of the inside the same as the outside, and i for sure didnt want the dash to be shiny and glare back at me.

Apache Kid-

What color and manufacturer was the spray can of the stuff that matches the original dash color?

Jeff,

Here is what the outside looks like now:

http://www.59apache.com/completed.html

I think your truck will look much better with a differnt color scheme for the interior than the outside. Also, I think the light gray is going to look awesome!

Well the calf color might be fitting as this truck hauled cattle from MO to Ia for about 30 yrs. I dont think that color would grow on me though.

Jim, the outside of your truck is great. Is that a facory color for a 59.

Cliff 59,

If you only knew how much calf poop I have shoveled in my life...the real thing, not BS!!

...anyone using the adjective "calf poop" and any color has a someone skewed view of a nice color for me!... grin grin

I myself will probably look at a brown hammered finish paint for my dash...but I won't call it calf poop! grin

My preference for interior is a medium to light shade of whatever color, two tones are nice. A totally DARK color doesn't show off the interior, with out some chrome or light accents, it's like you're peering into a mine shaft.

Jeff,

Yes, it is. It's Tartan Turquoise with Bombay Ivory trim. I just can't imagine them painting a truck in such a vibriant color after so many years of Onyx Black, Swift Red or Hunter Green. I bet many of the old guys hated some of the bright colors of '55 - '59! grin
