I hauled 4 ton of lime chips on one of the old 48's to continue building a block retaining wall. I also went to the old bone cracker twice this week. Took the wife plant shopping in the 64 and today took her out for supper (Mom's day ritual) in the Impala. The bad part was when a freind of mine brought his Corvette over because I'm gonna put a crate engine in it. At least I don't have to work on the brakes (yet). I really don't like working on 'Vettes, but atleast it's a mid-70's era which is a little easier to work on. Oh, yeah, I mowed and mowed and mowed.......

Went to a local cruise on Friday evening; new carbs were acting up. Got up Saturday AM and fixed the carb issue. Spent all day waxing and polishing. Went to another local cruise spot on Saturday evening. Surprise; it rained hard on my new wax job. Got up Sunday AM and wiped some water spots off the ole girl. I also installed my new steering wheel and put chrome 'claw' tips on my new dual exhaust. (Wife was out of town so I had plenty of time to play.)

I finally put a center seat belt in the '49. So, for the first time, our now 1 yr old son took his first long ride in one of our trucks! My parents came along (driving my dad's '54 dOrf f-100). We had a picnic at the state park, then did about a 50 (+) mile cruise through the country. Yeah, weather was perfect!!

work work work at home depot very busy. did pickup a t-5 trans and a new stainless gas tank for the rear of the truck. was beautiful here also. wish i had gotten my mg out was that kind of day but i was afraid i would jinks it for everyone else. ron

Saturday was dominated by my daughter's prep for her Senior Prom. Today has been all about Mother's Day.

I did sneak a few minutes in, carrying a tape measure, square and angle finder to work out some details of my frame swap project. Real measurements do change the picture sometime! And I ran several errands driving the 'OldSub'.

I have arranged that Memorial Day weekend will be about truck projects.

Rained, and rained, and rained.

Wend to the driving range though with my girlfriend. I don't know really anything about golf, but it was fun to hit the ball about 300 yards. After that, I looked at my hand and it was torn up. Now I'm having a hard time typing because my left ring finger does not work .

worked on the landing craft mosta the day [I'll hafta post about that when time ], but took a couple hours out to buzz to the local swap meet and show just to see if I could spend any money got a real nice 12v fan on a ball swivel stand that'll prolly go in the boat wheelhouse - you hot rod guys can drool over the pics of outrageously expensive parts someone didn't sell

Loaded my camping stuff in the 48 and we met my inlaws out at the ranch and had a small overnight camping trip. Mostly we just ate greasy food fried in bacon grease and watched the kids play in the dirt. I saved you all some dutch oven baking powder biscuits. Had a few chores to do when we got back to the house Sunday afternoon. Loaded up the horse and went right back to the ranch to throw some of the neighbors heifers out, trimmed my horses feet, replaced a board in my stock trailer, and unloaded cleaned my camping gear. I did glue the carper back up on the 48 floorboard.

Sunday the 8th:
Workin' on my '65: I installed the new dial indicator holder on the steering column... after taking the dial out of the old broken holder and wiggling it into the new one, then mountin' it up.
Installed a new dimmer headlight switch on the floor.

Then I tried installing the many brake cables and parts for my parking brake system.... nothing worked. I had to take it all off. I'm confused and rather irate.

Saturday the 7th-

Fixed the leak on the '50's torque tube.

Sunday the 8th-

Hauled a load of mulch from the woods and spread it around the hosta plants around the house. Tried to pull out a rotten stump with the granny gear and broke the snap rope and a clevis on the log chain. Guess I'll have to let the stump rot a little more.

Finsihed notching and boxing the GM crossmember to clear the mechanical fuel pump I am using on the V8. Next is to finish the subframe welding and start on brake lines.

Really Great early summer weather in Fairbanks, mid-60s to 70 ;~) Yard work, better half raked dead grass from yard then I mowered it. Painted more boards for the Pergola. Started taking the '51 panel apart (parts rig). Shoveled a ton of pea gravel. Ran the 55.1 on Thursday night, first time out this summer........

Well...I didn't drive the '51 at all this weekend. I drove it to work Friday, and while going to lunch it died on me. I narrowed it down to one of the electronic ignition components (which one I don't know :mad: ). I bought a new module and that didn't work. So, a guy from work helped me tow it from the intersection where it was sitting. Dad and I then spent a couple of hours getting the points dizzy back in and getting it to run right. So, now I'm questioning my decision to run electronic ignition. I know it is more dependable as long as everything works, but when one of those electronic parts goes, forget it. With points, you can always make it home.

Installed the new Aluminum radiator, hoses and ran the tranny cooling lines. Ponded whether or not I should start installing the wiring kit but after looking at it for awhile I decided to wait till next weekend.

We had a memorial service for my father on Friday so about all I got done was starting to build a crate for my new windshield for the 62. I picked the windshield up for a song but I'm not ready to install it so I'm crating it up to protect it until it is time to install it. I'm thinking I will have a glass shop do the install and that way if anything goes wrong they can buy a new windshield.

I took a break from my truck this weekend and went on a 4 day fishing trip with 3 of my buddies. We flew up to Prince Rupert and went north from there. We were fishing right on the Alaska border. Had awsome weather and caught lots of fish. ( Halibut, cod, red snapper and other ground fish. We even caught an octopus. Plus in one spot that we fished we got a stick caught in the line and while we were reeling in the line we noticed a small ling cod on the end. As we were untaglling the stick a bald eagle swooped down grabbed the fish, hook, lure and flasher and flew away. The eagle snapped the line and was flying away with the flasher trailing 3 feet behind. Later while trolling in the same spot we noticed the flasher stuck up in a tree ( no eagle, he left the hook behind)I did have dreams about sanding my truck though Have a look at the fishing pictures here

I scrubbed at least a years worth of dust, dirt and misc types of spray paint off The Ox. I also simple greened the engine and wiped off a bunch of grease and grime.

I also found that my exhaust was falling off, so I retorqued all the mounting hardware.

I test drove it down to the local autozone and picked up oil and filters for my wifes POS, then remembered that I already changed the oil on it... must have blacked that portion of my life out...

Got a good start on refurbishing the garage,(shop).My son and one of his friends came out and we insulated the upper half of the shop.Ordered new insulated doors for it,should be here in 3 weeks.Gonna insulate and panel the lower half,as time permits.Then install a couple gas heaters.

Finally got the Beast up on jackstands to check out the frontend, and my judgement from the short drive I had in it (it takes up all 6 lanes of a 6 lane highway), was confirmed as I found everything loose. Did I mention the original tie rod ends? I am so looking forward to replacing kingpins...

Does it ever end?

Dismantled the 305E V6 in preparation for it's trip to China.

Okie yous guys. What did you do on or with your truck(s) this weekend. We got off to a great start. We've been building a run-in shed and have been hauling the generator and tools down to the work-site in the back of the '49. It's been working out great until THIS weekend.

So, now we've got the battery hooked up to a charger. Might need to find out what caused it to short out. But that's later. Got to finish that run-in (90% done so far / Saturday). It rained like cats and dogs all day yesterday and would those goofy horses come into the run-in .... NOOOOOOOOOO :rolleyes: . Had to coax them with carrots and feed. They came; they ate; they left.



And I was soaking wet.

Oh, but the Masey Ferguson tractor bucket did come in handy to carry all our stuff to the work site. So ... we are charging on!

Will report progress on the '49. Will NOT report progress on the Belgians :p

Funny you should ask. I was just thinking. What the heck am I doing reading the stovebolt page when I could be..............on the truck.

So off I go. I need to fix the leak where my speedomoter goes in to the turbo 350. Or I could sandblast my wheels, start on my wiring harness, paint my inner fenders....

I'll report back after I've figured out what I'm doing.

Mrs. wants me to dig up and split day lillies and I also have to blow out my water sprinkler.

I have planned a little metering rod adjustment on my Rochester Monojet today. At mid-speeds, it will fade a bit when I step on the gas before picking up speed. It doesn't do that when I give it a little choke. So, I think the metering rod needs to come up a tad.

But first, we'll drive around town in the '48 to look at options for a gas fireplace insert.

(Somehow this laptop got a different login account that I once set up. I think I have more than 2 posts!)

I am headed out to drive one of mine.

We are minutes away from using the 46 for an X-mas card backdrop....just remember...only 6 more weeks to X-mas....

Then maybe a drive around the area and a garage clean up.

@ 0'dark:30 I had to move most of our stovebolts out to block the shop doors and a parking place for us today before all the UPPY Aholes and wanna be's show'dup to fill every spot for miles!
If you leave a door open they just walkin and say 'Is this more of Jesse's stuff?' or 'What's that?' or 'Can I use the can?' and some don't ask...many argue when you ask them to GET THE F### OUTTA HERE!! So today is a ZOO

Looks like I am going to continue the stripping of the Cab.

Also I will try to make th garage a functioning Garage. I bought several cabinets and shelves. They are up, now I just need to sort stuff and fill them while throwing out all of the junk.

After several days of hard starting, I found loose terminals on my dizzy cap and slightly black plugs. Changed the cap and cleaned the plugs yesterday afternoon. She fired right up with no hesitation but, after advancing timing and leaning it out a bit, I noticed there was quite a bit of vacuum at the dipstick tube.
Time to do a compression test and a leakdown. Thought I'd do that today but, it's raining AGAIN! here in what used to be sunny SoCal...

QUESTION!!!! Trying to put the front disc brakes on from CPP installed the brackets and they do not look right. The picture show's the bracket on the outside of the spindle (tire side) but the D. :mad: directions says put them on the inside. Which to me in the MIDWEST would be the side between the spindle and frame. Where did you guys put the bracket???

Got the transmission member rebuilt because of the MC unit. Letting paint dry before bolting back up. Got a brace welded in the back crossmember so I can cut the member out for the 16 gal fuel tank. Got all 4 rubber frame bumbers installed. Got gas tank straps made and painted.

Took Maws to party, and going back to shop.

Used a Stovebolt this morning to take the teenage son out to breakfast. He's been a little quiet lately, and I wanted to get him out where he might talk a little more. His best friend has just started dating. My son in 15 and I think he's seeing changes in his life coming and wondering if he is ready...

Next is pulling some suspension parts off one frame to use on another. I bought all new shackles and stuff, and will be using the springs off this frame to replace broken ones on my Suburban.

Then its assure that everything has adequate anti-freeze before it starts freezing around here.

And finally, I need to remove teh rear valance panel from my Suburban because Metalman is hopefully going to use it as a pattern for making new ones.

Later in the day I hope to take my wife out for dinner, but probably not in a Stovebolt...

Old Sub, GOSH DARN! That is the best use of any mode of transportation that I have ever heard of!

So far this weekend, I changed the right rear wheel cylinder and painted one wheel. I have to get back at it, paint another wheel and replace the left rear wheel cylinder.

Started tearing the front clip off of the 46 to replace the motor. NO FUN! Anyone want to drop by and help, feel free! Hope to have it back on the street in the next couple of weeks. The 52 will hit the pavement tomorrow morning barring no snow. It's 32 degress at noon, too darn cold to be twisting a wrench.

I've pulled the front leaf springs and I'm waiting to get a torch to take off the rears (wouldn't you know that the last time grease had been in the spring eyes was when they left the factory...). Today the motor is coming out and that'll leave, well, a pair of rails in the driveway

I visited an ancient junkyard, mostly forgotten, scored the radiator shrouding & a breather, now I'm cleaning it up, making new seals for shrouding, off to the Zone for a filter if this breather blasts OK. All this for the "new" 64 w/230. It now has a floor in the bed! Brian

Well its almost five and I think time to quite for the day! I don't want to allow my hobby to completely control my life...

I accomplished part of my list, the springs are removed from the parts frame. The recipient is parked next to it, and I did spray penetrating oil on everything I could reach without lifting the truck.

I also got anti-freeze in the one I knew needed it, and replaced some burned plug wires on that same one.

I might have gotten further but the wife wanted me to help her run an errand. While out we saw a big buck standing beside the road. After we passed, and a car going the other way passed, he just sauntered across the road. No hunting here, we're being overrun by game animals and more.

I hauled 6 tons of fill dirt in one of my 48's and had to unload it by hand. That's why I'm sitting here in front of the computer. My poor old back,
