Bit the bullet today and took it to a shop where the guy has been repairing cars for decades. He has a bunch of old classics himself.
Test drove it and figured the spring bolts were worn as are the bushings. Not all but there is play in them. He also discovered the rear leaf springs were wearing out against each other making a groove in the next (longer) spring. This groove is about one-third through the leaf. Also discovered a hairline crack in the frame where the body mount shackles are attached (both sides). Now I have to find bolts and bushings but my local jobber cannot give me a part number. Wants me to measure them. I am curious about that spring wear too as it seems to perfect a groove to be worn.
