I'll take a guess. When I had my cab off the frame I noticed a rubber pc. that was molded on a big washer close to the master cylinder on top of the framerail. It had a trough in in that the e- brake rod rested in. If this pc. is missing on your truck maybe the rod is smacking the top of the frame?
