I used to live in a subdivision and worked in my 2 car garage. The neighbors never complained directly, but I always felt guilty running a grinder or painting in the garage.
I wound up buying 5 acres in the country and built a new house and 30x40 shop. Now, no guilt about the noise or the fumes.
It was worth it. Sometimes a man needs to work on his truck at 2 AM wearing only his underwear, without offending anyone.
