Jerry's idea of loosening the bearing clamps is a good one. It may let the differential move back enough to let it rotate.

Do you have the transmission in neutral when you're trying to rotate the ring gear? If not, then it's going to be tough to turn unless you can also rotate the engine. Be sure you're in neutral and try again.
