Thanks for the clarification guys. My 55 Dodge (am I allowed to say that word here?) runs the starter through the ammeter. That is the only example that I personally know of. So your ammeter has a #2 or bigger wire on each side? That's what it would take to spin the starter. I can believe that the starter SOLENOID runs through ammeter.
