I certainly see the benefit of switching to an alternator, especially if I was needing to replace the generator too. But since all I really need is a working regulator, it should be cheaper and easier just to replace it. If I also was needing more power for accessories, that would be another reason to go with an alternator. I’ll keep looking around and see if maybe I can find a regulator in a junk yard to try. I am disappointed that the new regulator I purchased 2 years ago is already having issues, so I will try other options before I buy another new one again. I can drive all day (no nights!) with just my battery easily enough so I am in no hurry.
