I am still having some issues with my regulator being intermittent and I am considering installing a alternator. I have read a few posts concerning the wiring part, but I have not seen anything on the mechanical part. So my questions are what is involved in changing the mount to accept a alternator, and is there a specific year model/size that would be best to find? Do you buy new, or find something in a junk yard so you can also get the mounting parts? The truck is still pretty much original; other than installing turn signals, I have not added any electrical load to the system and have no plans to at present so I do not need a high output alternator.
The truck is a 56, so it is already 12 volts.
