Yes the truck was switched to negative ground when I bought it. I tried grounding the field wire off the voltage regulator to ground and right off the generator to ground but, I still don't get any movement in the guage. I have polerized the generator as well. At this point I am not sure the gauge is even working. I guess it's possible something wasn't completed properly during the conversion. It wouldn't be the first thing that wasn't done right. I have no idea where to go form here. Any help would be appreciated.
