I did have some doubts if everything had actually been converted. The battery is 12 volts and the negative terminal goes to ground. The starter says it is 12 volts but, I don't see any markings on the generator or regulator.
I will try what you mentioned tonight. I'm not sure what I should see when I test the coil. When I put the meter on the (-) side of the coil and to ground and then turn the key on, there is a reading right away before I crank it over.
