Okay Stuart....
Went out tonight, changed the spark plugs because I found one that was cracked. Looked closer and found that the wire going from the (-) side of the coil to the distributer was not in the best of shape. So, I made a new wire to replace it. Did the checks as you suggested and everything seemed okay. Turned the key on and hit the starter and it fired up !!!
However...it ran for about five minutes and quit for no reason. Waited about five minutes and it started again only to run for about one minute and then stopped. Can't get it to start again..
I can't seem to keep it running long enoungh to check the voltage from the generator, my original probem.
Could it be the coil heating up or may the condenser !!
