I am sure this has come up before and I apologize for being redundant but is it ok to use 10% ethanol in my 216? I finally took my first test drive yesterday with a buddy who has been helping out. It was so much fun! Thanks to all you Bolters who have answered my sometimes obvious questions and gave encouragement. Steve

Yes, perfectly safe. I wouldn't even know where you could find any non-ethanol gas in Washington.

Just keep an eye on rubber fuel lines. If they are not made to handle ethanol they may crack over time.

The GMC 270's that tried to catch our Flathead Fords on the dirt tracks in the early 1950's ran a Methanol/Peroxide mixture, but so did everybody else. Getting downwind of the exhaust of one of those cars would give anybody a serious buzz!

I had problems with the fuel pump that i attributed too ethanol but i sat for 2 years while being finished. it does eat the old style rubber.

I must say you are much happier than us here in Brazil, where the percentage of the corrosive-water absorber-gum producer is 25 (yes, twenty-five) per cent of ANY gasoline one can buy.
My old (but very good) Chev. 261 engine suffers like a condemned to drink such a crap. I have recently replaced the carb (Weber) because of corrosion in the bowl (and everywhere inside, I guess, and the "new" (reman) one is already showing signs of disgusting internal illness. New parts are unavailable here, so I keep cleaning the metal powder and gum and replacing rubber parts as and while I can manage. The jets must be way bigger than standard, or the engine won't be feed properly. Pumps suffer, also.

I agree...just keep an eye on them if you plan on running the ethanol thru your 216. I stopped using it in my 235 because I had to rebuild the carb on another classic of mine due to corrosion. Now I run a 50/50 mix of 93 non-eth and 103 low lead. Like some have already said it may not be easy to get in some areas but I live 15-20mins from a drag strip. : ) BTW, doesn't Stabil (Sp?) now make an ethanol gas stabilizer/ treatment??? Might help prevent any corrosion problems like I had.

Been running everything I have on E10 for years, never had the first problem.

If one cannot get non-ethanol fuel(best option), aircraft fuel, 80 or 100LL will work great, just costs more. Never let ethanol fuel sit if untreated.

I just used (last week) up a tank of ethanol blended fuel I bought back in October! I haven't had the truck out much, been really busy. I had no fuel related problems, started right up and ran great.

Noted talk of non eth gasoline. Friend just got a new 4 cycle outbore and was told not to put eth-gas in it. He was told that many of the marinas now caring it as the 4 cycle outboards are becoming popular. So they might be a source!
