I have a 41 chevy with a 10 bolt gm posi rear end. I plan on putting in a 350 with a 700r4 tranny.I need to weld in the saddles thanks for the help. James
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

I was lucky as my nephew borrowed a digital guage from Freightliner and helped me set it. First you need to level the chassis then check the angle of the tranny. Set the pinion 2 degree's negative or "low". The gizmo he had we placed on the tranny and got the reading then on the rear housing. I have always heard there is an "angle guage" to do it with but never seen one or know where you can get one...... I would not trust "eyeballing" it as that is what I did originally and it was to high giving me a little vibration. Just FYI hope it helps get you in the right direction. | | |

I've heard a couple of degrees downward of parallel in a truck to compensate for when the truck is loaded.
Be sure to measure from the same side of the engine and differential- Negative on the driverside is postive on the passangerside...
