Not a thing. It was raining yesterday and I'm working at the fire station today. Monday is my wife's birthday so that isn't looking good either! Maybe next weekend will be better...

Went to the air show at Andrews Air Force Base on Saturday. Organized my garage because I completely dismantled the front axle, wheels, drums...etc. Didn't want to lose anything when it's time to put back together.

i visited my truck on sat. and was shocked as to how much i still owe the bodyman after already paying him $5000.00. i have still not payed the mechanic anything. i will lose my job in about 2 weeks, for those who don't know i worked at one of the 15 home depot stores that are closing. time adjustments t my life style will have to be made. i am better off than a lot of the people there that both husband wife work there for the insurance. i was retired already when i took the job to support my truck. ohwell Ron

Re-timed my engine with advance timing light.

Ordered a new flex-fan from Summit.

All day Saturday started to take out all the rusty bed bolts stayed under the truck all day.

ALL day Sunday replaced all the bed blocks and bolts under the bed and started to get the bed ready for some welding.

Took my wife for a ride with new HEI installed she now thinks Tom langdon is a God. I get to keep the truck.

No wrenching but I did spend six hours washing, drying and waxing the firetruck just so I could drive it around town. It was alot of work...but worth it! Happy Memorial Day to each of you.

Cruise Night for cancer on Friday night, man was it cold, I needed and overcoat, earmuffs and my mittens. Saturday Big show in the daytime at the 15,000 member Calvary Church in Naperville, IL, best great turn out I’ve seen so far at that meet. Weather could not have been more perfect; I even got the wife to go with me for once. First car show that she’s ever been to and she had a good time. Sunday was our AACA sponsored all day swap and car show that filled the Sandwich, IL fairgrounds, again an excellent turn out even with the threat of rain showers. Took my 1950, 3604 “work in process” to all the shows this week end and thought I would at least get an award for the rattiest looking truck there, and it was. I was kind of ashamed to bring something like that in amongst all those beautiful rods and restorations but at least I didn’t have to walk all that far when it was time to leave.

I had opened up the '67 12 bolt truck rear that was under the burb a few weeks ago and found a bad bearing and questionable axle. I had already put a rebuilt axle with the 5-lug disc kit on the front so I was looking for an excuse to change out the rear. Bad rear end made it an easy decision to go ahead and do it now. So I picked up a 10 bolt friday morning from a local junkyard. It came with a 2.56 gear so a new carrier and complete rebuild are in order. I spent a good part of the weekend disassembling and cleaning it. Cutting the old spring perches off of it was a chore. I got a couple coats of paint on it today. I haven't decided yet whether to assemble it myself, I'm thinking experience may be a good thing to ensure it gets done right.

After that I went back under the truck to clean and scrape all the dirt and rust off the frame, crossmembers, floor, fenderwells, etc. Its a dirty job but I'm making good progress. I just have a small section left to do now; from firewall to the back of the passenger door and between the outside of the frame to the door.

I had the '66 in the parade again today pulling a trailer with the old Vets who can't march too good anymore. It was a real nice day, in the high 70's. This time I dressed in my BDU's.
The long neck beers were only a buck for anyone in uniform at the VFW! We had alot of fun. Tomorrow we take the flags off of all the graves, close to 1800 of them.

I drove my '56 to Hutchinson Kansas for the ATHS Truck Convention. Entered it in the show. Spent 3 days looking at trucks, talking about trucks and making lasting friendships.

Total trip mileage was 940 miles. Not one lick of trouble with the truck. Ya gotta love it.

I charged the battery up and got it running again. Drove it around the yard a little bit and then pulled it up to the garage for the day. I adjusted the valves (engine off, it was less of a mess and mom doesn't have to make me pressure wash the concrete off again), adjusted the carb and timing. I also checked the brake that had been giving me issues and put half a tank of gas in it. Now it runs like a top and sounds great. Brittany helped me clean up the mating surfaces for the valve cover gasket and took a video of it running for me.

I also took the dog to the vet and then went swimming, that turned out to be quite fun, even though I got a chest cold from the water.

Spent most of the weekend mowing lawn, trimming weeds, and cleaning flower beds. But we did take the '47 out for a spin. Also warmed up the wife's Corvair.

I spent 20 hours scraping 60 years of crud off my frame forward of the firewall. Then I washed it all down with mineral spirits and gave it a good coat of paint. At 61, it pretty much of an ordeal crawling around on your back for the better part of a day but it was rewarding to see it finished. One more thing off the list.

Finally got the '62 235 mounted in the '36 1.5 ton frame, had to cut the cross member for the pan clearance. Took apart the front end to replace the king pins and brakes. Bringing all the odd parts to work for bead blasting and painting. Went to a great BBQ and did tons of yard work.
Found a really obscure Native American graveyard by accident while the wife and I were riding the Harley, we spent about an hour counting the Veterans there from WW1-WW2-Korea-and Nam. Wow, that was enlighting, there were 63 Vets there all with flags. Thanks for serving!

That looks good Woody. That's where I'm at on my '49 and it does not get easier at 71.

Bead blasted a bunch of small parts for painting, bought a set of NOS 3100 side emblems for the truck and went to the Connecticut Classic Chevy Memorial Day Car Show, the BelAir Camper was really cool. Take a look at the 3 1958 GMC's, the yellow one looked like a Cameo.

It's going to get a LOT easier for me when I'm 71 because by then the most strenuous thing I'll be doing on my truck is pushing in the clutch! grin

More power to you brother... show these kids how it's done thumbs_up

Amazing! My son home from A&M and my son in law home from Iraq helped me and we got a ton done. We finished most of the wiring, just waiting on fenders for lights, hanging the split looms and hooking up the senders. Under the dash we have power to radio and heater/air power lines waiting for those accessories. We also drilled and hooked up the door poppers for the interior lights. thumbs_up

Looks like you've got your work cut out for yourself, but you're making great progress. Nice, professional looking work. Congrats!!

Your work inspires me to get to work installing my new Mar-K wooden bed replacment kit I bought 3 weeks ago. There's always something to do on these old trucks!!

Not a whole lot! Unfortunately work gets in the way! cry
It starts getting dark here about 4.00/4.30pm. eek
It's hard to get 'fired up' when it's pitch black and cold! brrrrr
I got plans for the weekend though.

I got nothing done today or even this whole month. But, my new workshop is finished, wiring is done, attic insulation tomorrow and my heater will be hooked up in two weeks. I'm picking up my radio this weekend for the '53.

last weekend I dismanteled the heater and bead blasted the sheet metal, and painted it with Hammertone paint from Lowes. It's not correct but I like the way it turned out.

Yesterday I cut out the drivers side cab corner. Made the patterns and cut the metal for the inner repair pieces. Today I am going to weld the pieces together and pray the rain stops soon. I am still not finished with my shop so am working in the great outdoors. Big Chevy I enjoyed your webshots good stuff.
