FOR MY TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess it's not as bad as I thought because two people just came and asked if I was interested in selling. My mom answered the door and told them NO!(but in a nice way) I don't know how much they wanted to get it for but it's comforting to know that someone else thinks it's worth saving enough to want to buy it!

Always give the same answer; The first $100,000 takes it away.

My dad had a 36 Ford street rod about 8 years ago. Had spent 3 years building it from the ground up. Had no intentions of selling it.

One day, at a car show, a guy offered him a boatload of money for the car. It was gone the next weekend.

Might have been a good chance to sell it for a LOT more than you paid for it, then found another one here on the site that needed less work for cheap, jordan...

Just a thought... I would have at least listened to their offer and see how much they wanted to give you before saying no...

My standard answer when someone asks me if my 38 is for sale is "No, but having said that if there are enough zeros behind the first number, anything I own is for sale". Nobody's put enough zeros there yet.

The next time someone drops by with an interest in your truck you might engage them in a conversation. Ask them what they would do with it if they bought it? Ask them what would they think the problem if the tranny is stuck. Who knows, they may be able to give you some answers to your current headache.

Yep, Trev, but after all that I've went through and all that helping me with and getting the truck, I'm not ready to sell it, and seeing that this is my first vehicle, it's even MORE special.

I agree with harvester.I had an older gent follow me across town a few days ago and ask to buy my 51.Theres not enough money to by my first vehicle,its what i learned to drive in 33 years ago and still my daily driver.

That is certainly enough zeros.....sold. It's funny how things are when it comes to the sentimental side of a vehicle. While my truck was at one point my dad's as well as my uncles, my wife has been known to remind me that I have managed to replace most of the body panels in the past eight years. In that case is it really the same truck?

I completely agree with the thought that if someone pays enough that you can go buy a different project that is further along or better, more desirable truck, then sell high and buy low.

These trucks are never about the money because it becomes WAY too easy to put more into them than they will likely ever be worth....I guess that is where the sentimental value takes hold!

Well, while I do say that and I have always thought that if someone offered me enough I would sell my truck – and then just turn around and buy another one, when it came up recently with someone I began to get cold feet about selling my truck. There is just so much history with it – and ‘61’s are very rare in these parts!!

Although there is an old family friend who expressed interest in my truck… it would seem right to sell the truck to him, as he is who introduced the ’60 Chevrolet to our family.

Boy you live by a different set of standards out there. If someone showed up to my door and wife answered to someone interested in one of my trucks, she would pay them to drive off with it

Way to go jdl, I had a bicycle when I was 13. Most folks laugh at my truck and say you mean you paid for it? When someone does ask if its for sale, I usually tell em, with a big grin. I will pay them to take it. For now I would not sell, I just like it and it suits me. 10 years from know - who knows.

Tom, compared to my truck your truck is in PERFECT condition! But really, the only thing wrong with my truck is the holes(more like gaping ones!) in the floor board, two smaller ones in the firewall, and the even smaller ones in the running boards, and then there's the fact of the engine being stuck and the transmission in gear, but if I get it running I MIGHT be able to get it into neutral.

i have a 1951 GMC BURB,it has a good running stock 6 cyl engine,the body was in good condition when i got the burb and is now in perfect condition,very little body or bondo work was done before it was painted INSIDE AND OUTSIDE,all the window glass is good,under the burb all looks good and has not been covered with any undercoating or paint,this so buyers can see what they are getting,NO RUST,has the stock rims,has both front seats and the midlle seat,it is missing the rear seat,the burb will need the interior re-done<<like all seats,floor rugs and headliner,it is all intact but is old,i dont have any pictures of the burb,but it will look very good,iam not sure what it will be worth but i did pay$4200.00 when i got it,SO HERE IS THE QUESTION,WHAT WOULD THIS NICE BURB BRING ON E-BAY OR ANY OTHER SITE...THANKS FOR YOUR HELP..BOB

I'm with Sheridan. It's not about the money. I've had 7 Harleys over the years, and there's not a day goes by that I don't wish I had kept some of them. After all the work and time spent on this project, I made myself and my family a promise that I was going to see this project through to the end, and if there was ever going to be a sign in the window, it was going to read "Not For Sale". And we all know...there is never an end to it.

Happens to me all the time. First with the 59 Apache and these days with the 62 SS. I just say, "Make me an offer." I've NEVER been able to get an interested buyer to make an offer though. They'll ask me what I'd take for it and tell them make me an offer and I'll let you know if thats enough. Still no offers.

Everything is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I have more into my truck than most people would even think about paying for it, but I love it and if they wouldnt pay what I think it's worth then they dont deserve it or appreciate it.

Just my opinion...
