Sent out a bunch of requests for prizes. So, this year's contest is now officially "kicked off." I don't have the link fixed from the main It Ran page (in the Features) section but hope to by the morn, after John has looked over the intro. A little fun-fact: Bruce Kinsey was ready from last year. He sent his submission in November 2005!! So, grab those cameras and start shooting. Details will be on the intro page, but if you can't wait, they are the same as last year. Dates are different tho. Peg

Purdee Industries has donated a set of Header Buddies. The Busted Knuckle Garage (they've been around with us for a long time, too) -- they're going to come up with a goodie or two. Neato. Peg

Cliff, fine with the mail-in. This way you'll know for sure it'll get in the IRWIPI calendar (since it'll be big enough). Our address is in the "office" (from the home page). It'll be on the "intro" page when we get that up. Peg

Steve is donating a set of four 12" Auto Dollys. These sell for $159.00 per set! They are great for any truck nut with a dead vehicle to store in tight areas on a cement floor. Will add the pix to the prize page when I get it finished. Peg

Now guy's I have been to his house and shop for 2 years and never saw that split windhield vehicle. So I ask him whats that. He said, it's a 49 five window chevrolet, I drove it and parked it there about 8 years ago. Of course my next question was --- "HOW MUCH" --- It's not for sale he answered. So I replied nice yard ornament, ya gonna use it for fertilizer? No answer yet, hes thinking about it. I'll go get a pic or 2.

I hope to work on these this afternoon. John's gotta go get a load of hay so that should give me some time. I'll post in here when I get the next batch up. Quite a few have come in during the week (but we had company from Alabama) PLUS some more prizes!! Now with my luck, this dadburn big dark cloud outside my winder is gonna give me a hissy fit with the computer. (Can you tell I've been around serious South'ners for three days? ) I love it!! Later gang, Peg

Fixin's a great word, covers a lot of situations. I'm fixin' supper. I'm fixin' to go to the store.
I grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. I went to a party when I was about 20 or so. This gal wonders into the conversation several of us were in. So a few minutes later she says, "Don't I know you from 'summers'". So I just stared a moment trying to think if I had ever been to any place called 'summers'. Drawing a blank I said Huh. So she says again, "Don't I know you from 'summers'". Then it dawned on me that she was saying "Don't I know you from somewheres?". Still not quite correct English but at least I figured out what she meant. And no I didn't know her from 'summers' or 'somewheres' either.

She's from the mountains of Alabama and she really has a great drawwwwwwwww. John was even given a lesson on how to speak "southrn." It was great. Not sure how much John ejoyed it but when we all went to dinner last night, he did a pretty good job ordering his "eyes t" -- I think he made it three syllables. Sara likes calling John a Yankee. They have a fun time. Sara and her husband are 75 years old and drive this huge RV. Have been to 49 states. Said they shoudda come visit us while we was in Ha-why-ya. But they were waiting for someone to build a bridge. ANYWAY ... Got a few more entries in there. I'll see if I can get any more done before we're fixin' to git outta here-a. Oh, btw, we are Alabama girls (me, Melanie - now is that a GREAT southern name or what, and Megan). Peg

You'll enjoy this story on the wide shot. My Dad (Wade in NW Florida) was out riding, looking at one of the projects he manages for the Florida DOT and having heard that there was a veritable gold mine of old trucks just to the south, he headed south. Alas, they were all 'phords' except for a couple of Dodge big iron. They are all rusting away. And he understood the owner doesn't want to sell any of them. They are visible from the road and lined up like tombstones. He hates to see any of the oldies just sitting there rusting away but that’s what's happening with these.
The location (if you're ever in the area) is US 319 about 3 miles south of Crawfordville, Florida which is south of Tallahassee, and almost in the Medart community.
Jonathan HerodThat is too bad to see old iron just rusting away. We have a similar picture that's a line-up of '46 Chevies ... that one's for the calendar and these beauties are definitely NOT rusting. Enjoy, Peg

I just added two more -- Highwayman and Larry Norris.
Larry says about the '54 --
She sits behind an old farm house in the middle of one of the most enjoyable places on earth, Door County Wi. I go there every year on vacation and always check to see if the old “54” is still at rest. I know one day I’ll find that bare patch of barnyard instead of her perfectly rusted patina and that will be the final good bye. I hope her journey will lead her to the road again.
Almost brings a tear to my eyes!

Both very cool pix. I think you'll especially enjoy the COE. Eric says: I found this in the Arizona high desert about 35 miles from my house. There are 2 coe's parked out there and the other one is an old Navy truck, says U.S.N. on front and #'s. I have more pictures of this truck, the other c.o.e and some old cars ... all basking in the sunlight and will sadly never see the restorers touch. The [owner] will not part with them and says "They will rot to the ground where they sit.".I had to talk him into taking some pictures. Sad. Thanks, Eric Anderson Very sad Peg

Kyle Pierce says about his truck: This truck was used only for fall hunting trips to northern Wisconsin in the mid to late 50's. During the off seasons it was stored in barns with various farmers. It did make one hunting trip all the way to Colorado. Sadly it was parked in the woods and left to the woodmice when the hunting party gradually faded away.AAAAANNNNDDDDDD Mar-K Classic Truck Parts (our Moderator for the Bed Clinic) has donated a pair of bed side hole caps. Three ...oose from -- plain, bowtie or reflector. SSSSOOOOO Yawl got about 30 days left. Now that the leaves are coming off the trees (in most places), you should be able to uncover lots of great pictures. Good luck, Peg

"I recently attended an auction out in Nebraska. Although, they're in a bit better shape than those that are depicted in most of the submissions I've seen, I thought they might fit in. Not too likely to find that many old 216 "Stovebolts" in alignment again."
Now that a lot of the leaves are just about off the trees, you all ought to be able to get some good pictures.
Enjoy, Peg

Deadline is December 4 and the voting for the Peoples' Choice will begin. We'll let you know when the "voting booth" is ready. I think Tim Marquez's entry won't be a permanent IRWIPI. He says here "are two pictures of my 55 1st series that I bought last month. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this and I am learning a lot. Today I bought the engine and brake parts that I need to get her running and stopping. Thanks for all you do with the website; it really helps!" Sorry the update took so long to get too. The Thanksgiving holiday held us up ... then we had some serious computer problems. (Still operating in safe mode). Check the November News page for the stats on the contest.
