I found this on Deals On Wheels. The ad says '51 but it look like a '54 and up. But $7000. C'mon.

One piece windshield, grill, and the dimple on the rear driver fender for the spare definately make it newer than a '51.

He says it runs and drives.. then why the hell wouldn't he have put some air in the tires and taken a picture in the driveway?

There's a guy near me with a wurlitzer era truck just completely covered in heavy rust. Looks like it's been in the woods for the past 60 years. He's asking $4,000 for it!

I pointed out politely that the price was a bit high for the truck. He said he knew that, but if he held onto it long enough someone would buy it for that price.

Well there's truth in that.. if you sit on something long enough, somebody will come around and pay the price you want.

In the case of a vehicle thats been sitting for 40 years and isn't costing you anything to store.. what do you really care if you sell it tomorrow or 10 years from now?

Thats the case with some of the thick pockets of old iron stashed around my neck of the proverbial woods.. these guys are sitting on literal junkyards full of cool old iron they inherited from their fathers or grandfathers, and they're certian if they sit on it long enough, somebody will come along and pay 'em huge bucks for the stuff.

Kinda like that woman in Washington state with the 150+ vehicles.. she's convinced she's sitting on a goldmine.. not considering the cost to haul off all the CRAP far outweighs the premium price you might get for the few choice pieces.

KWF, For that kind of money, I'll bet you could easily get your hands on Fumblin's in-laws Dodge!

I'm as serious as the guy that posted your ad must be? I'd probably have about as much luck selling that Dodge as he will selling that "51" chevy.

This reminds me of a friend of mine. He had a Piano that he wanted to give away. The only catch is that you had to move it out of his basement. He could not find any takers. So he listed the piano in the local paper. Sold it for $500.00 and the new owner still had to move it!

My father-in-law had a beautiful Austin- Healy Bugeye and had multiple people asking to buy, that was 20 years ago, nothing by chinky brown iron powder now. If you think it's a gold mine why not keep it inside?

ha ha ha ha...I saw this truck also and even with my newbie knowledge of these truck I knew I wouldn't pay more than about $900 for this truck.

What the owner neglected to mention was the crack pipe in the ashtray. He's been hitting it hard. When he says "Doors shut good" does that mean that the door is shut good and won't open?

The motor in that truck on EBAY is a 235. (not original, but very desirable) Looks solid.

Based upon what I've seen sell, his reserve seemed low to me. I'll be curious to see what it ends up selling for.

Must've finished watching the Barrett-Jackson rerun and that Stovebolt that brought $30K+, and thought "Hell, that old Chevy I've been keeping my crack stash in ought to be worth about seven grand, yeah, baby! Sis, get that there disposable picture-takin' camera and git 'er done! We'll run in ad in that truck picture ad thing and get some more money for some more crack!"

Around here, Chevy parts are all over the place, but these MOPARS are scarce as hens teeth.

My 54 looked somewhat like that sitting in a field, I was dubious when the guy said you wanna drive it?
He wanted 2 grand, I offered 1500 bucks. The 12 second silence was painful....hehe! It was scary driving it home. That was 6 years ago...I've put thousands into it, and it still needs paint. Been a lot of fun and worth every penny.. G man.
