The Ox July 2002 ------------ RR -- The second image didn't work! HOpe I got the date right on #1 The reason we ask for a LINK to a picture (rather than posting the image itself):
1) it affects our bandwidth (which is costly) 2) it makes the page download slower (which really affects people on dial-up, and we've got a lot of them) 3) some European users have to "pay by the byte" (and we don't want to do that to them ... especially after they've seen the image once already!)
And a side benefit -- you can post a link to as big a picture as you like and it won't affect the rest of the posts in that thread!
Thanks, Peg

Truck is a 49 1/2 ton. Picture was taken about 1972 in Butano State Park on the California coast. "Hippie Gothic" Here's a link to several pictures of my current truck shortly after I bought it. Bought it in 1991 in Cape Girardeau, MO, and drove it home to Paducah, KY. Started frame off resto in late 1998 and am now 6 years into a "3 year project" 1953 3604

That's what it looked like the day I drove it home. To see what it looks like today, go to page 3 of this General forum and click on "Finally.......Dusty"s home" (Norse was kind enough to post the pictures). It took over 1 1/2 years and a BUNCH of new parts to bring Dusty to the condition he's in today. Some NICE looking before/after pictures posted here! Here you go Brian ... here's his truck in the gallery . And here's the page from Norselander\'s site .
Good thread, by the way.

As you can see, I immediately started a restoration but could not decide on an exterior color. But the '54 in the picture below is how it looked when I got it except for a rotted-out mail truck box that was converted into a camper. That had to go the same week that I got it. The only other thing I've done to it so far is to see if it runs. I got it running the same day, after it had sat in one place since 1974. The body is almost rust free and I bought it for $150.00. It's future will include a 454 and a ramp bed to haul more trucks home on. The red '48 is all original and the black '48 is my 350 equipped plow truck. Only difference is that it is hiding about two grand in new parts now, from an American Autowire wiring kit to new fenders and the coming-soon Vintage Air system I just ordered. (The bed is much more full than in this picture.) Since we're strongly considering moving this coming summer, I haven't torn into it to begin restoration work and instead have focused on finding good deals on parts I need that can be stored and easily transported if/when we go.
