This is The Ox the day I bought it. The Ox July 2002

------------
RR --

The second image didn't work! HOpe I got the date right on #1

The reason we ask for a LINK to a picture (rather than posting the image itself):

1) it affects our bandwidth (which is costly)
2) it makes the page download slower (which really affects people on dial-up, and we've got a lot of them)
3) some European users have to "pay by the byte" (and we don't want to do that to them ... especially after they've seen the image once already!)

And a side benefit -- you can post a link to as big a picture as you like and it won't affect the rest of the posts in that thread!

Thanks,
Peg

This was taken on 9/14/2003 -- several months after I bought it.

It still looks like it did when I bought it tho'.

Most of the stuff I have done so far has been mechanical.

Update: 10/22/2005 - my truck now has new hubcaps - pictures on the website in my signature line. I also have new side mirrors to mount up but I haven't found the correct fasteners just yet.

OK...here's my 64 the day I bought it:

(picture removed by moderator - was not the truck.)

That was just about a year ago. Here's what it looked like in August...and pretty much what it
look like now.

There's more to do...but that's the fun of projects, right? The whole story is on my website in my sig.

This is what Elmer looked like the first time I saw him. The interesting thing is that I had already owned him for about 4 months. Talk about buying sight unseen.

This is my 51!!! Hard to believe!!No motor, no transmission, a rag for a gas cap, one door with a vent window and one door without vent window, we weren't sure just what year it was at first. We got it in 1996. Tony did all the work on it himself.

Those are all trailer queens compared to mine!

I have not helped things much either though. Since I bought it it has become less and less truck looking.

Well, this first one is not my current truck, but the beautiful woman to my right is my current wife so it sorta counts. Truck is a 49 1/2 ton. Picture was taken about 1972 in Butano State Park on the California coast.

"Hippie Gothic"

Here's a link to several pictures of my current truck shortly after I bought it. Bought it in 1991 in Cape Girardeau, MO, and drove it home to Paducah, KY. Started frame off resto in late 1998 and am now 6 years into a "3 year project" grin

Have problems posting frown here, so best I can do is direct you to the Gallery under '56 and look at "Brian Dahl's 1956 3100". That's what it looked like the day I drove it home. To see what it looks like today, go to page 3 of this General forum and click on "Finally.......Dusty"s home" (Norse was kind enough to post the pictures). grin It took over 1 1/2 years and a BUNCH of new parts to bring Dusty to the condition he's in today. Some NICE looking before/after pictures posted here! grin

Here you go Brian ... here's his truck in the gallery . And here's the page from Norselander\'s site .

Good thread, by the way.

This is a shot a few months after we bought our first vehicle for $75 in 1970 (1948 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Panel Truck). As you can see, I immediately started a restoration but could not decide on an exterior color.

I don't have any picture of my freshly aquired trucks since the Great Computer Crash of 2004. But the '54 in the picture below is how it looked when I got it except for a rotted-out mail truck box that was converted into a camper. That had to go the same week that I got it. The only other thing I've done to it so far is to see if it runs. I got it running the same day, after it had sat in one place since 1974. The body is almost rust free and I bought it for $150.00. It's future will include a 454 and a ramp bed to haul more trucks home on. The red '48 is all original and the black '48 is my 350 equipped plow truck.

Here's the first picture I ever took of Ugly Truck Junior (little bro' to Ray's original Ugly Truck!) back on 11/6/2004:

Here it is, three days and many negotiations later, at home in my garage:

It doesn't look much different as it sits today, tucked away in the garage. Only difference is that it is hiding about two grand in new parts now, from an American Autowire wiring kit to new fenders and the coming-soon Vintage Air system I just ordered. (The bed is much more full than in this picture.)

Since we're strongly considering moving this coming summer, I haven't torn into it to begin restoration work and instead have focused on finding good deals on parts I need that can be stored and easily transported if/when we go. smile

This is the first time I saw my Suburban First Look . Caution this is a bunch of pictures, it will take a while using dialup.

This was my '54 pickup when I got it home.

The wrecker cost more than I paid for the truck.

More \'54.

My '55 1st parts truck the day I dragged it home.

This is fun, I have lots more...

Joy,

Whenever I saw (or see) a rag for a gas cap I think "What person would want to put a wick in there?" Scary!

If your truck is half as good as it looks in the pictures, you got a real nice ride to start with. Congradulations and have fun with it,
