Hey 48,
I'm gonna post a picture of your Loadmaster for you. It's one of the nicest unrestore trucks I've seen. I must share,
Scott

Wow that is a really nice truck and I thought my 56 was in great shape. That 48 is by far the nicest 61 year old unrestored truck I have ever seen.

Be careful with a slow moving vehicle triangle.

A friend of mine got in trouble a few times for having them on farm equipment hauled on a trailer and going over some speed, say 35mph.
Apparently, at least in Virginia, if you go over a certain speed with the triangle in view it's against the law..... Seems a little stupid to me. He said they were not very nice about it at the time.

Donnie,

Surprise, surprise!

Your's is one in the batch for July 1 ... but I knew you were ANXIOUS (to say the least) to let the guys see it. Plus ... wow ... it's worth showing off.

Let us know when you get the Photobucket account set up and we'll add it to the Gallery page.

Congratulations. Looks great!

Grigg and I thought Washington was dumb with things like that. It seem to me that our law enforcement agencies have forgotten the purpose of the laws and now think that they where put in place as revenue generators.

Great going, nice looking truck. I'm sure that your wife will be pleased when you haul home that first batch of mulch for her flower bed. wink Don't forget to let her know that the next time you help her sister move that the long sofas, and other big stuff will be a piece of cake.
All kidding aside, they do come in handy. I will be hauling off a load of dirt for my sister in-law this evening.

Have fun enjoying your new ride.

Nice look'in rig. Would you believe, I saw your truck sitting at a rest area, along Interstate 85, on the back of a Car Carrier two weekends ago. My family, & I were headed to Virginia Beach, Va. early that Saturday morning, when I saw it at the south bound Rest area. I thought then, that it was a "Beauty", & wondered where it was headed. I wanted to get pictures of it, but I was in the North bound lanes. Must have came from the North East Coast area. When I arrived at my sister in laws, in Va. Beach, I saw that Donnie, was trying to contact me about his truck, via the StoveBolt private messages. Had no Idea, I had already seen it. What a coincidence.

It's hard to put values on the Big Bolts, but i've seen them in comparable shape to yours bring as high as $4500-$7500, & you may not belive this, but I've seen nice 'ol Big Bolts sell as low as $750-$1500. I purchased a very nice, running, low milage (13000mi.) '49 4400, back in the early '90's for $350. I felt guilty, leaving the old guys house, for it that cheap. It had been originally owned by a local Golf course, since new, for maintenance, & was too old to be useful to them, so it was just an old unusable truck to them. When it comes to big trucks, it all depends on who's looking for what, at that particular time, & who owns it. Exposure plays a big part also, when selling.

I believe I saw that one on ebay, sounded almost like a drive it home. If you're willing to divulge, how much did it cost to get the big bolt hauled and would you use that hauler again? Saw a GMC tractor on ebay but figured it would cost more than it was worth to get it from south bend to here in MD. Good luck with your truck.

Glad you're going to keep it Donnie. That's too good look'in of a truck, to let go this quick. A pole shed, would be a cheap inexpensive way to get it under some shelter, if you have the room.

Lonnie, what you need is a camper body on skids that you can winch onto your deck for weekend outings (Check how the oilfield guys do it). THAT would bring both Momma and the kids around very quickly indeed.

A truck like yours is to be maintained in its current condition, and not sold until you die, partner. And then only if none of your family likes it. I might change the wheels, tires and mirrors if I were to drive it a lot. I might even eventually look into a taller final ratio. But I would not sell it. Ever. I'd give it away first.

Be advised that a camper could be put to another use if life should go all pear-shaped on you.

Just think how useful that beautiful old truck will be for hauling the materials to build it's new shelter! As was stated before, you'll find lots of uses for it,and whenever the wife gets uppity about the purchase, just show her what it would cost to RENT a truck this size to do all the jobs you'll be doing. Then the purchase price won't seem so bad after all. grin
