I won't attempt to figure it all out for ya Allen, but the 12v stomp starter has more than one post - big one is battery, small one on the side that goes to the coil, and when it's stomped, the small wire puts the full 12v to the coil - when it's running, the juice goes thru the ign sw, then thru the resistor to the coil - the resistor should not get hot when just cranking - if you don't have that bypass setup then you may not be getting enuff juice to the coil to get enuff spark at the plug - you can temporarily put a jumper across the resistor to bypass it, just don't run it for long that way
