That's what you get for working on an engine with a name that can't be pronounced or spelled on the first 5 tries...a huge engine at that!
I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, or if this is applicable, but sticking a dowel or long screwdriver into the #1 spark plug hole and watching it raise to TDC has been done more than once under the shade tree.
