Well just a thought since you have the Caddy, I really took a good look at my truck and the Caddy suspension under mine is pretty BEEFY and stout, it is heavier built than my 75 Laguna, I guess to carry the Big Block motor and Vehicle itself.
I know its car parts but I bet it is just as heavily built as any 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton truck of the era....you may just have the parts on hand after all?
