darn, that's like the best post i've ever seen. you must have a degree in 305s, i've heard of the soft cam but I never heard a detailed reason for it. honestly I dont even know if this thing has an egr setup. really, i'm not 100% sure that it's a 305, the old codger who sold it to me might be remembering wrong. he swears to it though, so I until I find a casting number I can only go on his word
