Personally I think most small block Chevrolets are pretty poor. About the only exception would be the 4 bolt main 350. 4 bolt mains aren't that big of a deal, but the block is made of better material. It will have 010 stamped on the side, and they will last fairly well compared to the softer blocks that are more common. I agree that if you could find a big block you would be better off. They are a pretty good engine, much better than the small block.
