No the gas in the oil is from trying to start it.make sure you drain it and pull all the spark plugs and put a couple squirts of oil in each cyl and turn it over(you have washed the cyl down and will not get much compresion).Your spark plugs are most likly fouled out also so.....i know you dont want to hear it but go get another set. The slot in the dist drives the oil pump you can put a screw driver in the hole and turn the pump to get ti to were you want for the dist .The dist will go in about six diff ways. If you have spark dont worry about the ballast yet.BECAREFULL WITH ALL THAT GAS ARound.Do you have 12 volt or 6 volt???
