The valves have to be closed and the dist can go in many diff ways(you must turn the oil pump with a screw driver.) Get #1 an with the valves closed now look to see were the rotor is(DO NOT LOOK AT THE FRIGGIN BOOK)were the rotor is IS #1 no if ands or butts.Put the #1 spark plug wire on the cap to match up to the rotor placement(AGAIN FORGET THE BOOK)you may have to turn the dist a little to get the rotor matched to a post on the dist. Now just start form #1 plug wire and go clockwise on the cap 153624. Dont look at the diagram in the book. Timing rarely jumps on a 235 and you could have 6 burnt valves and it wont blow the muffler apart.YOU have the timing wrong.Did it happen before you changed any parts???Did you change vavle adjustment???
