Got new melling pump in from NAPA. The top of it has 'no' recess like the pictures I posted above. Its totally flat except for the hole that the distributor shaft goes into. What is a Melling M45 pump supposed to look like?

Can I swap the dist gear from an old stock 235 distributor onto the shaft of the HEI unit?
