Yup, both gauges mechanical. Oil pump pickup was screwed into pump w/loctite & height from pan floor was checked. Full of Castrol 30 wt oil, still clean. No oil filter. Ran car easy, between 2,500 & 3,000 RPM always. We towed car to friend's house where I can check it out tonight.
I read one footnote in shop manual about overtightening oil pump can cause distributor shaft to shear. But I was careful installing the oil pump, & HEI was working fine in my old motor.
If this motor is shot, I'll have to sell the car, cuz Im just not building this motor again.
