Couple of questions:

How long can a 235 run under no or light load with no oil pressure before damage? I had to drive it about 200 feet in 1st to get it out of traffic.

If the oil pump or distributor shaft broke, should I worry about metal shavings in my oiling passages? How much bearing damage could occur from a fragged oil pump?

I read somewhere several months ago about Melling oil pumps failing in V8s. What are my warranty options if the pump called it a day? I bought all the internal parts from Patrick's, the HEI from Stovebolt engine Co.
