That would work since it's already been running. If you stick your finger under the valve cover and it's dry, as in- no oil has ever been there, do not run the engine until some more diagnosis is done. (Ideally, before all this & before cranking, I would remove the distributor and turn the oil pump gear with a long flathead bit in a drill to prime the engine).
